Even if the document is identified as a counterfeit the problem than becomes how to get an expert to attest to the authenticity for prosecution purposes. That's where we come in. Our services are used by prosecutors in the preparation of their cases. We will provide you with a sworn affidavit attesting to the validity of the document in question. This will help you determine if prosecution is necessary or even appropriate. The charge for this is $50 per affidavit. There is no charge if the analysis is inconclusive. WHAT HAPPENS IF WE NEED YOU FOR TRIAL? It is our experience that 99.9% of these cases are resolved without a trial. After all, once the validity of the document has been determined there are few defenses to the offense of possession of a counterfeit ID. Nevertheless, we are prepared to assist you in this area as well. If the sworn affidavit is insufficient, we can provide testimony via close circuit television (via Internet) or appear in person. Costs associated with travel, lodging, per diem and testifying must be paid by the client; however, there is no additional witness fee charged. THE EXAMINER All identification cards are examined by Paul Kurtzweil. Paul is currently a lieutenant with the Polk County Sheriff's Office in Florida. He has extensive experience with fraudulent identification cards and is utilized as an expert by the Office of the State Attorney of the 10th Judicial Circuit in Florida. He is called upon to analyze documents seized by a variety of police agencies. Paul has conducted trainings in this field for other law enforcement agencies and has been a presenter at law enforcement conferences. He is also sought out by law enforcement agencies across the country for consultation. |
